Healthy Bites

February 7, 2019

As Valentine's Day approaches, it's important to remember that even though your pup may be your Valentine, their bodies are different than ours. Here are the dos and don'ts of you and your dog on Valentine's Day. 💕

DO Treat your dog to any type of organ-based meat. Organ meat is packed with nutrients. Liver and heart is good for digestion.

DON'T give your pooch any type of chocolate (more for you!). However, if your dog sneaks some from the package, watch for symptoms listed on the website below, and call pet poison control 1-888-426-4435.

DO Give your dog some Omega-3. It has shown to help with allergies, kidney funtion, arthritis and more! These can be purchased as a supplement.

DON'T give your dog any other dangerous foods like grapes, raisins, macadamia nuts and coffee beans.

DO Serve your furry friend a pre or pro-biotic (and get some for yourself, too!) These good bacteria have many benefits including, but not limited to, support for their gut, brain and immune system.

DON'T leave alcohol or ibuprofen in your pet's reach.

DO Give them flax, carrot and ginger! Flax is loaded with omega-3 and is good for digestion. Carrots support dental health and can help with diarrhea. Ginger boosts appetite and blood circulation!

DON'T forget that dogs want your love and attention more than anything! Be sure to give lots of snuggles this Valentine's day.
